When Hurricane Gloria hit, my wife Maureen and I were in New Hampshire where I was shooting a story for Popular Mechanics magazine. Upon our return to hard-hit Cutchogue, I drove around taking a few pictures of local damage. Recently, I used one of these pictures, for reference, to create a watercolor painting of the fishing station building, on 1st Street in New Suffolk, which was pushed askew by Gloria.
