Hurricane Carol 1954 by Ann Fox

Orient Point Ferry beached after the hurricane.

Old vaudevillian, Pat Rooney's mansion on Town Harbor Lane. We lived in what was his guest house at the other end of the property. When my father bought the house he said the basement had a chest full of old theater costumes. Behind the Rooney house there was a two-story garage which is now a private home where Rooney kept his cars and where the help lived. We were surprised that such a big place had an outhouse. The house was subsequently owned by a Dr. McKenna and the Jernick family. It has since been torn down.

Jack's Shack at Town Beach after Hurricane Carol passed through in August 1954.

Goldsmith's Boatyard on Hobart Road, after the hurricane.
