After the Peconic Bay Impressionists is a non-juried exhibition. At the turn of the 20th Century, artists were drawn to the East End for its light and beauty. The early painters were Irving Ramsay Wiles and Edith and Henry Prellwitz. Some other notable North Fork artists included Caroline M. Bell, Julia Whitney M. Hubbard, and Otto Joseph Kurth. The painters not only painted en plein air, but also painted still lifes, portraits, and genre art. A century later, artists are still coming to the East End to paint. This exhibit will feature the Peconic Bay Artists of the 21st Century.
Artists will be showing pieces of art that are 10” x 10”. Everyone is invited to view the artists’ work, and you may consider a purchase for $100, half of which will benefit Southold Historical Museum.
