GREAT NEWS!! By request, Southold Historical Society has added a day to the Discover Southold Scavenger Hunt!  The hunt will still begin on Saturday, April 17 at 10am but will not close until Sunday, April 18 at 4pm.  The Society has made this change in order to accommodate families with busy schedules on Saturdays.  Hopefully this will allow more people to take advantage of this opportunity to participate.

Southold Historical Society is pleased to offer an exciting family event this spring, the “Discover Southold Scavenger Hunt.”  Join in the fun on Saturday, April 17, 2021.  The scavenger hunt is designed for people of all ages to explore the neighborhood simultaneous to learning some tidbits about Southold’s rich history.

The only requirement is a smart phone to download the Goose Chase app.  Most targets are within walking distance from each other, centered around the hamlet area.  Participants will be asked to take a selfie with Albert Einstein or count how many windows are on the Thomas Moore House.  This a creative way to get your friends and family outdoors and moving all while learning about the history of Southold.

Throughout the pandemic, Southold Historical Society has been devising methods to keep people involved and interested in the community.  The museum’s executive director, Deanna Witte-Walker states, “Adults have been engaged in our many social media posts and virtual exhibitions.  However, we also have been seeking out ways to involve families.  The Discover Southold Scavenger Hunt is perfect for people of all ages, especially families.”  There is no limit on the number of teams who can sign up nor on the number of people on a team.  What a great way for Grandma and Grandpa to safely interact with the grandchildren outdoors!

There is a per team suggested donation of $25 for non-members and $20 for Southold Historical Society members.  After registration, instructions will be provided to down load the app before teams begin on April 17.  Get prepared to hunt for Southold’s treasures!
